I started designing my website using another book that covered HTML, CSS and JavaScript. I got pretty good with HTML, passable with CSS but could not get my head around JavaScript. Little code snippets that illustrated various functions just didn’t do it. This book is totally different. Using downloadable example code and the free Visual Studio Code editor, the author takes you step by step through slowly constructing a complete JavaScript-driven website. I found writing and debugging my own code to greatly enhance my understanding of the material. And while I’m yet to get to that stage, being able to do full-stack development using Node.js and Ajax is a major plus. This is the perfect book for beginners wanting to learn JavaScript. Highly recommended.

You’ll always want to have it around because it’s great to go back and reference when you’re having trouble. I highly recommend all of the Quick Start books! I’ve got the HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Python, and SQL books that I use daily! If you want to become a web developer or programmer, start with the HTML/CSS book and then branch off from there. You won’t regret it! They are all very beginner friendly and easy to understand. 💙
